OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) technology is a self-light emitting technology that does not require a backlight, making it a promising candidate for the next generation of flat-panel displays. The basic structure of OLED consists of organic materials placed between an anode and cathode composed of electric conductive transparent Indium Tin Oxide (ITO). The multi-layered thin film includes the Hole Transporting Layer (HTL), Emission Layer (EML), and the Electron Transporting Layer (ETL). When an appropriate electric voltage is applied, electro-luminescence occurs, creating excitons from the holes and electrons. The quality of OLED components is determined by the transfer material, emission layer material, and choice of electrode.
